About The Proposal
We had only been together for 6 months! I was pregnant (by surprise) with our eldest and it was my 21st birthday. We had flown to corfu to celebrate my birthday and had booked a private pier dinner for my 21st birthday evening. He proposed with a private chef and photographer just for us on a beautiful pier where we had a 10 course meal.
The Theme
My wedding theme was white and classic. I wanted floral chic and white florals to be the center stage. My bridesmaid and dinner party was champagne and golds colours to compliment the elegant chic feel.
The Venue
We never actually viewed our venue! We originally had our civil ceremony in the Arch Bishops Palace in Kent as our venue wasn’t licensed for ceremonies. We had my mother and father in law and our two children accompany us to our civil ceremony followed by a meal after to celebrate. Then onto the wedding weekend that we we hired a 20 bed house for 20 guests and made Saturday our wedding day. When we arrived we chose where we wanted our ceremony and told our venue stylist and she got to work the morning of the wedding! It was called Winscombe Court in Somerset. They hadn’t ever cater for a wedding either so it was trial and error but absolutely perfect! I think they may even be looking into getting their ceremony licence because of us now!
The Fashion
I tried around 20 bridal dresses on, tried 4 different shops until I found the one! I had previously bought a dress the year before, but after trying it on a year later it just didn’t feel right. So the hunt began again. I found my dress in Wed 2 B Ashford in style Kenzie. They didn’t have my size but told me Bromley did. So I travelled there to be told they didn’t either! We eventually found another store in Newquay that had it in my size and we had it shipped it. I always knew I wanted a lace style dress… never strapless… but low and behold that is what I went for! My little girls flower dress was style Olive and the boys suits and page suit suits were House Of Cavani. Everything compliment our modern elegant theme so well!
The Ceremony
Our ceremony music was picked so last minute! I couldn’t make up my mind about what I wanted to walk down too but the night before I finally made the decision. My bridal parties entrance song was Amber Leigh – Falling like the Stars and my entrance song was Ruelle – I get to love you.
Lukes dad actually did our whole ceremony which was incredibly special for us. She stuttered at times and lost his place when reading but having him doing it was so so precious to us.
We got married on top of the newly built putting green that overlooked for miles the gorgeous Mendip Hills.
The Reception
fter our ceremony we all moved onto the grass area were we had a Prosecco reception and photos in front of the big stately home. I also made up Mr & Mrs cocktail decanters the morning of the wedding which went down an absolute treat! Mine was Sex on the Beach and Lukes favourite was Strawberry Dauquari.
After photos, our caterers provided a street food type spray which my guests love as we approached lunch time.
Everyone chilled for a couple of hours before joining Luke and I on the green for a game of back to back Mr and Mrs! My bridesmaid and best man read out the questions and we got every single one right!!! It’s true we really are soul mates. When it came onto the questions of “what you think they would answer” we actually ended up getting each other’s answers wrong but the other person would say “oh yesssss I forgot about that” so it turns out we know each other better than we know ourselves!
In the evening we had hired a private chef to cook a 3 course meal. This is where we did our speeches and a cheeky game of never have I ever in between the main and dessert! It was extremely funny… especially when your 85 year old grandparents aren’t as innocent as they make out.
After dinner we partied the night away with some drunken karaoke and dancing, and I can assure you my rendition of Love On Top by Beyoncé will not be forgotten for MANY years to come!
