What Stationery do I need for my Kent Wedding?

Blog by Married In Kent

You will need several different items of wedding stationery for your big day, however not all listed below will be required. If you are ordering your wedding stationery from a supplier, then you will need to do so at least 6 months in advance of you wedding, if not much earlier than that if you are sending out save the dates etc. Here is a little check list of the stationery you might need for your wedding

Before the Wedding

Save The Dates
Save the dates are normally sent out around 8 months before the wedding, sometimes a little further in advance, and are a great way to give people a little notice of your big day. They don’t need much information, just a date and location are normally enough.

Hen/Stag Invites
If you’re doing something a little different, such as going away for your hen or stag do, an invitation with all the details is a nice touch.

“Be My” Cards
What an excellent way to ask someone to be your maid of honour, bridesmaid, best man or any member of the wedding party, to make them as excited as you are for your big day.

Wedding Invitations
These are crucial for your big day, and will fully represent the colour, theme, and style of your wedding. The general rule is to send these out around 2-3 months before the wedding, as this should give people enough time to RSVP back without causing you too much stress, however some people will choose to send these out around 6 months before the day even longer for destination weddings.

Guest Information Cards
These are a great way to pass along any additional details for the wedding such as, a map of how to get to the venue, local accommodation, taxi services, gift preferences or if the guests have dietary requirements etc, and you can include them with the invitations.

Evening Invitations
Evening invitations are essential for your additional guests, who will not be attending the ceremony, be sure to include when you would like them to arrive on the invite.

RSVP Cards
Include RSVP cards within your invitations, this makes it easier for your guests to respond back to you to let you know if they will be attending, and to let you know of their menu choices etc. It is also good practise to include a postage paid envelope with your address, to make it as easy as possible for guests to get back to you.

Menus
Most will ask their guests to pick their menu choices prior to your big day, however, if you choose not to do this then your menu can go within the “On the Day” section. You will need to ensure that you include a section catering to dietary requirements.

On the Day

Order of Service
An order of service allows you to set out the agenda of the day and outline all the fun activities that you have planned for your special day.

Table Plan
This is one of the most important features of your day, as it lets people know where they will be sitting to avoid any confusion. Some choose to hand their table plan in a frame, or display it on a wall or easel, however the main thing is to ensure it is somewhere easy to see. Your table plan will include each guest’s name and their table name or number.

Table Numbers or Names
Rather than giving table numbers, some like to give the tables names, these can be to do with the theme of your wedding, or something fun like different gin brands, or meaningful like the names of different countries you have travelled too together.

Place Cards/Favour Tags
Place cards make sure everyone knows where they are sitting, sometimes they can also be included within the wedding favours as a tag. As a nice touch, why not include the guest’s menu choice on the back, just in case they’ve forgotten what they’ve ordered.

Other on the day stationery to consider may be, personalised Wine Bottle Labels, Drink Tokens or Table Confetti.

After the Wedding

Thank You Cards
An amazing way to thank people for making your day so memorable. Why not include your best wedding photo within the card and a meaningful message.
