Staying Positive Through Your Kent Wedding Postponement

If you have planned a wedding during the current coronavirus pandemic, then you may have already had to postpone your wedding or will have to do so soon. We completely understand the upset that this may have caused for so many couples, we are here to reassure you that everything is going to be okay!

Don’t hold on to the negative feelings and look forward. Yes, you’re absolutely allowed to be sad, upset and frustrated about the situation, but just think it’s for a good reason. It’s to keep your loved ones safe, and so that they can all be with you to celebrate your special day when the time comes.

Don’t let postponing your wedding dominate your thoughts, yes there is lots to do to get your wedding rearranged and this can be stressful, but try to find the time to do more positive things, such as baking, yoga or reading, whatever makes you feel happy. The more you think negatively about the situation, the more you will follow a negative path. Try to find the excitement again, yes, your wedding has been postponed, but you will have a wedding and you will be marrying the love of your life, it will just be a little while longer.

You can also use this opportunity to make changes to your wedding, if there was something you were apprehensive about or weren’t keen on, change it, it’s not often that you get another opportunity to make these changes once a decision has already been made.

If you are finding that you are having a really tough time, speak to your family and friends, they are your support network, and will definitely want to cheer you up. Video call with them, seeing your loved ones face to face can feel so much more personal than a phone call.

Most importantly celebrate your original wedding day. Cook a nice meal or get your favourite takeaway, pop some champagne, put your first dance song on, and just enjoy being together in that moment.

Know that you are not alone in this situation, other couples in your area, your county, your country and other countries all around, are going through exactly the same motions and feelings as you are. If you want to share your experiences, find a support group, or write a post in a wedding facebook group, such as our facebook group I’m Getting Married In Kent, we are certain that others will come forward to share their experiences too.

Remember this won’t last forever and your special day will come!
