I am married with 2 wonderful children. My stepson is 10 and my daughter is 4 so running my wedding cake business from our family home can be difficult and a little hectic at times but I love what I do and starting my business meant I could work around my family.
Chelsea Buns Cake Design is a small home based Wedding Cake business, covering Kent and the surrounding Southeast counties. I offer a fully bespoke service to all of my customers, ensuring that every cake is a true reflection of the couple and fits perfectly within the style of their big day. Chelsea Buns Cake Design mixes the elegance and beauty of a traditional wedding cake with modern techniques and each of Chelsea’s cakes has a truly contemporary feel.
I started my company back in 2015. I was working in Canary Wharf but when I fell pregnant with my daughter I knew I wouldn’t want to go back to working in London so the day after I started my maternity leave I started my business and it blossomed into a very successful business very quickly.
We offer bespoke, luxury Wedding Cakes, dessert tables and favour cookies.
All of my cakes and sweet treats are made by me, Chelsea, in my home kitchen. I hold a 5 star food hygiene rating and use only the freshest ingredients as this creates the best tasting cakes. I make my own jams, curds and caramels which are used in my cakes.
Last year I made the decision to no longer offer occasion cakes and now solely offer Wedding Cakes as this is my real passion. Bringing a couples dream cake to life and to be part of one of the most important days of their lives is a true honour. I am a specialist in handcrafted sugar flowers, so any cake that includes beautiful sugar blooms are always my favourite to create. I love to think outside of the box and offer contemporary designs to my couples.
Sugar flowers tend to make an appearance in the majority of my cake designs and are often requested by my couples. There are a number of my designs which are very popular, including my log slice design and my handing chandelier cake which is a true centrepiece.
I do everything within my business. From emails and admin, client consultations, designs, sketches, baking, decorating and delivering.
My wonderful husband Andy, often assists on larger deliveries, occasionally helps with baking and has recently taken over my administration duties (alongside his own full time job) to free up more of my time to concentrate on my Wedding Cake creations. If you get in touch with us, Andy will be your first point of contact but I am always on hand should anyone require anything very specific.
I am very lucky that I have a great network of wonderful wedding suppliers around me and many that I can call good friends. I take park in styled shoots and collaborations as much as I possibly can and I get to work with some of the most talented suppliers in the industry. My favourite collaboration so far has to be the “Wild at Heart” themed wedding shoot which was held at Port Lympne Hotel earlier this year and included a photoshoot on safari. The cake I created for this was a true showstopper and one of my favourite creations to date.
