Why have a pet chaperone at your wedding?

Blog by Married In Kent

Your pet is such a big part of your family, and I’m sure when you’re planning your wedding the thought to have them there definitely crosses people minds, and then the thought comes “but we won’t have time to look after them”, however, that is exactly what a pet chaperone does. They are there to look after your pet and relieve the pressure from you, whilst making sure they can be a part of your special day.

The most important ability of a pet chaperone is to ensure that you pet is ready for their role in the wedding. They will also ensure that they are looking their best, perhaps take them to the salon for a trim, dress them in an outfit you may have chosen, and help them to get down the aisle.

A pet chaperone will also ensure that your pet doesn’t get bored, by keeping them constantly entertained and worn out, to avoid them causing too much mischief with your other guests.
Before you go to book your pet chaperone, there are a few things you will need to do and consider, as follows:
1) Check that your venue is pet friendly, some might not let animals in entirely, whilst others may be happy for them to remain outside.
2) Consider whether your pet will be happy around that many people at your wedding, as some animals can get a little anxious around large groups of people.
3) Consider whether your guests will be happy or comfortable around your pet. Some may have phobias or even be allergic, although the majority will probably be quite excited to see a cute dog in a tuxedo.
4) You need to face the facts that you will probably get a dog hair or 2 on your outfits, will you be ok with that?
5) You need to consider what role you would like your pet to play, whether it be to walk down the aisle with you, be a ring bearer or just be there for the pictures.
6) Is your pet generally well behaved, or are they jumpy, or love to bark at everything or even steal food?
These are all points you need to consider when including your pet in your big day.

Finally, when it does come to booking your pet chaperone, ensure that they are full licensed and insured, and don’t be afraid to ask them to see proof, they will be more than happy to show you!
