Combining romance, resourcefulness, and a ravishing view of Roman history, “Romance at Reculver” was created on the 23rd August 2020 by a number of talented creatives.
Originally this shoot was planned for early spring but was definitely worth the wait! We encountered the perfect weather upon arrival, and throughout the day the sun and clouds were always just right to capture the idyllic moments of this majestic setting.
Inspired by the powerful gusts of winds which circle Reculver Towers, this shoot sought to accentuate the graceful movements of exquisite flowing bridalwear which could dance in the movements of the wind. The beautiful designs of Natasha and Vicky at “Matchimony” elocuted this idea perfectly, presenting gorgeous flowy skirts and dresses for the bridal model to wear.
This was complemented by the wonderful floristry of Sue at “Just Peachy Florist”, providing a matching bouquet and head piece of snow-white flowers. From the tiny buds of gypsophilia to romantic roses, this was the perfect combination for a bride to have at her dream wedding- and for us to be honoured with at this divine styled shoot.
By having the talented photographer Tony Pullen on board, we knew that there was no doubt that the pictures would turn out anything but perfect, with beautiful edits and angles illustrated in every picture taken. Tony brought both fun and fabulous work to the shoot, making the whole experience such a pleasant day.
Not only this, but we were honoured to have the wonderful videographer Jacob Cameron Hill on board to film. He worked alongside Tony, bringing new creative ideas to the concept and producing a simply outstanding video for the shoot. We were even able to take our shoot to the skies with a drone, capturing the entirety of this majestic historical setting, and demonstrating its sheer size in relation to our gorgeous bride and groom!

Our beautiful couple for the day were Kaii and Amie, long-time friends back from their days at university. Their professionalism and expressions were second to none as they epitomised the art of romance, seizing every chance to create a magical moment for both Tony and Jacob to frame.
Having worked with the model Amie before, our lovely makeup artist Lara was prepared and ready, delicately applying all the right colours and tones for a soft demure look onto her face. Always with a wonderfully bright outlook, Lara was on hand to top up makeup between takes, opting for a darker shade of lipstick for the later outfits provided by the gifted ladies at Matchimony.
The talented Terri was also on hand to fix Amie’s hair for the big day. Despite the blustery breezes she was able to secure her hair into an elegant updo with efficiency and creativity. Throughout the shoot Terri was a wonderful helping hand, assisting our bridal model changing through outfits and fixing Sue’s gorgeous headdress in place, as well as providing the team with fantastic behind the scenes footage to look through at the end of the day.
Overall the team was absolutely sensational and created a beautiful atmosphere for “Romance at Reculver”- and we are so proud of the results!
